Musica Antiqua Mediterranea performs baroque dances from sunny and bright Spain and Mexico! Spain is a country where various cultures such as Arab, Italian, and French have blended together to create its own unique music. The guitar occupies a special place at the center of this history. In addition, Spanish Baroque music, while influenced by French and Italian influences, retained its Spanish melody and flourished with instrumental and secular songs as well as theater. Songs and dances accompanied by castanets, guitar, Basque drums, and bells were especially popular during church and secular celebrations.
