Dramatically demonstrates the amount and nature of the tars and nicotine produced by modern cigarettes. Experiments are based on a simple apparatus which draws smoke from a lighted cigarette through a high efficiency fiberglass filter. Different brands of cigarettes can be compared for their tar and nicotine content. The material collected on the filter paper can be weighed to determine the amount of cigarette tars generated by a particular brand.
