2000 PlayStation 1 Parasite Eve II Japanese version, factory sealed and untouched for 26 years. This is a Japanese original pressing, one of only 430,000 copies ever produced for the Japanese market. Original shrink wrap intact. No reprint. No Greatest Hits equivalent. First and only pressing.
Square's cult survival horror sequel took Aya Brea from Manhattan to the Nevada desert, fusing RPG mechanics with Resident Evil-style horror when that crossover was uncharted territory. Directed by Kenichi Iwao (the same mind behind the original Resident Evil at Capcom) with a soundtrack by Naoshi Mizuta, who later scored Final Fantasy XI and XIV.
This landed right at the tail end of the PS1 lifecycle. Square in experimentation mode, pre-Enix merger, still taking swings outside Final Fantasy. It never reached mainstream visibility. Fans now call it the best entry in the series. The word you keep seeing in collector circles: "untouchable."
This is the original regional release with distinct Japanese box art, original voice work, and content variations that differ from the Western localization. Most of these 430,000 copies got opened, played, and shelved - but not this one.
The Parasite Eve franchise has been dormant for 14 years. Square Enix has no plans to revisit the IP. The only way to experience this game as intended is through original physical media, and this is as original as it gets.
