This striking 80 Heller red definitive from Austria (Kaiserl. Königl. Österreichische Post) belongs to the 1916 Coat-of-Arms issue designed by Rudolf Junk. The stamp features the elaborate double-headed imperial eagle, crowned and bearing the Austrian shield, framed by highly ornamented Art-Nouveau–influenced scrollwork typical of pre-WWI Austrian philately. Printed typographically, the issue is known for shade varieties and crisp line detail. Used examples with clear cancellations, such as this one, remain highly sought after by collectors focusing on the late Imperial period and the transition years leading into WWI postal history.
