These shoe shaped stirrups are made of brass with a dark patina.
They come from South America.
They are known as "Conquistador" stirrups, but they probably date from the 19th Century.
The shape would protect the rider's feet from injury.
Both stirrups are decorated with a buckle pattern on the front and a mask with a feathered headdress on each side .
There is a monogram "CR" under each suspension loop.
There are two triangular drainage holes in the base of each stirrup.
There are nail holes in the soles of the stirrups which probably used to hang the stirrups on a wall.
