When heavy machinery, like crushers and grinding mills, endure relentless impact and vibration, selecting the right backing and grouting solution is critical. Megapoxy HICB provides the robust, high-strength support required to keep critical equipment aligned, stable, and operating longer. It ensures liner plates stay put and heavy components remain chocked, even under the most demanding conditions.
Why this product exists
Megapoxy HICB is a two-component, heavy-duty epoxy grout formulated specifically for extreme industrial and mining applications. It is a 100% solids, VOC-free system designed for backing and reinforcing metal liner plates, and filling gaps between liners and support structures in crushers, grinding mills, and pulverisers. The formulation ensures void-free support and exceptional resistance to impact, compression, and chemical attack, preventing premature equipment failure and costly downtime.
The numbers that matter
The cured system achieves a compressive strength of 115 MPa, providing a foundation that significantly outperforms concrete and withstands immense static and dynamic loads. A tensile bond strength to steel of 20 MPa means metal liner plates and chocked machinery remain securely fixed, preventing dislodgement and structural instability under high vibration. As a 100% solids, flowable epoxy, Megapoxy HICB ensures complete penetration and void-free encapsulation, which is essential for uniform load transfer and preventing fatigue in machinery operating with continuous impact.
What it's like to use
Megapoxy HICB is supplied in pre-metered kits for consistent performance. Achieving the stated physical properties requires precise mixing: slowly add Part B to Part A, then blend using a low-speed electric mixer for a minimum of 3 minutes, scraping the bucket base and sides to ensure a uniform colour and avoid aeration. For optimal adhesion on metal surfaces, grit blasting to AS CK 9.4 - 1964 Class 3 finish is recommended, followed by degreasing. Any crevices in the backing area must be sealed with a suitable putty, such as Megapoxy PF Rapid set putty, to prevent material leakage. The mixed material has a 30-minute work time at 25°C (Standard HICB), which is reduced to 10 minutes for the Accelerated variant, so plan pours accordingly. For cleaning tools, Megapoxy Thinners should be used. Always allow the system to fully cure before returning equipment to service.
Where this product excels
- Crusher backing: For backing and reinforcement of metal liner plates in cone, gyratory crushers, and pulverisers, where continuous impact and abrasion demand an extremely durable and impact-resistant solution.
- Heavy machinery grouting: Anchoring and chocking of large industrial equipment like grinding mills and other dynamic machinery, ensuring precise alignment and vibration dampening under significant operational stresses.
- Structural stability: Grouting anchor bolts and rail tracks in mining and quarry environments, providing robust, long-lasting support that withstands heavy loads and chemical exposures typical of these sites.
Choose this when
- When heavy machinery needs robust backing: If you are backing metal liner plates in crushers, grinding mills, or pulverisers that experience constant impact and vibration.
- When void-free support is critical: For grouting applications where 100% solids and flowability are essential to ensure full contact and load transfer beneath heavy equipment or rails.
- When high strength and chemical resistance are mandatory: In mining and quarry environments where components are subject to extreme compressive and tensile forces, alongside chemical exposure.
Don't use this when
- Not for: Casting thicknesses exceeding 50 mm in a single pour; this product is engineered for specific backing and grouting depths.
- Not for: Applications requiring flexibility or movement accommodation; with a Shore D hardness of 80, this material is rigid once cured.
- Not for: Use as a low-viscosity crack injection resin; its mixed viscosity of 17150 cps is too high for fine crack penetration.
- Not for: General-purpose protective coating applications; it is specifically formulated as a high-strength grout and backing material.
- Not for: Use without precise mixing or on inadequately prepared surfaces, as this will severely compromise its performance and bond strength.
Choosing between Megapoxy HICB and Megapoxy 206
Megapoxy HICB is engineered specifically for heavy-duty, high-impact crusher backing and machinery grouting where extreme compressive strength, impact resistance, and void-free support are paramount. In contrast, Megapoxy 206 is designed as a general-purpose, high-strength epoxy adhesive and repair mortar, offering versatility for a broader range of bonding and filling tasks where its non-sag consistency and high bond strength are required. Choose HICB when your primary need is for a pourable, high-impact backing grout in demanding industrial settings, and Megapoxy 206 for structural bonding, concrete repairs, or as a strong, non-slump adhesive.
