Glenlivet 1976 First Cask 24 Year Old Single Cask #5527 (2000) 70cl

An incredibly rare, older, musky tasting and just beautiful example of what direct fire tasted like on the older Glen Grants before getting to the 1956 drams. We do not really get to make whisky like this anymore due to the distillation methods differing in nature today and the higher demand in whisky globally is churning out more young whisky than leaving more for the aging.

We all recently had the pleasure of trying this ourselves and it is one of our favourite old time whiskies that we have ever tasted.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Burnt oak, chocolate aged malt powder, sulphuric reminders of time from before, old factory, older shoebox. furniture lacquer & polish, hazelnut shell, walnuts & bees wax

Palate: Old Toffee, aged spices, figs, dates, orange peel, malt chocolate, stout beer / porter .

Finish: An incredibly long reminder of a sherry mouth coat that resurfaces with sweet spots at the back of the mouth and back of tongue. Leaves and then returns to remind you of the old musk like the positive side of rotting wood / paper. Just majestic.
