It's a much higher grade material than you'll find in a lot of other tortoise shell earrings which are made from cheap plastic that is rigid and thus prone to breaking. This material is super strong and pliable so it has a lot of give...it bends not breaks. You can feel good about wearing these too as the acetate is a vegan plastic that is natural and sustainable. This material is super lightweight but still durable and strong.
