DMM Dragon cams use a single stem with hot-forged cams mounted on a double axle—this gives better reach than single-axle models. However, even with the addition of a second axle, DMM has retained Ray Jardine's original cam angle of 13.75°, which maximizes holding power. The double Dyneema stretch strap saves you on slings and further reduces the weight of your protection set.
Dragon cams use relatively powerful springs—this means that they are a little harder to retract, but the benefits are worth it: they will sit more securely in placements and be less likely to pop out of their placement when the rock is smooth or the cracks are shallow. The trigger uses an extremely strong forged aluminum piece that is resistant to abuse and allows the use of an extendable lanyard.
Thanks to their torsional rigidity and larger contact surface, when the cams are placed in shallow vertical or horizontal cracks, the nuts are less likely to slip out of the placement. Finally, the Dragon's trigger is manufactured with deeper grooves for improved handling, even at arm's length.
