Binding: Attractive and fine full red morocco leather binding, finely bound by Bayntun-Riviere with covers tooled in gilt with a fillet border and blocked on the front with the five figures of Tigger, Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Owl and Pooh and the title. The spine is divided into six panels with raised bands flanked by gilt fillets, lettered in the second, third and fourth, and with a flower head in the other three, turn-ins tooled with a gilt fillet and floral roll (hinges fine) under a protective removable mylar cover. All edges gilt. An exquisite binding for this color edition!

The book: Rare and Attractive First Color edition in a beautiful Bayntun-Riviere binding of The House at Pooh Corner  --  the second volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. It is notable for the introduction of the character Tigger. Originally published in 1928, uncolored, Shepard colored his own line illustrations for this edition.

The author: Alan Alexander Milne (18 January 1882 – 31 January 1956) was an English author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various children's poems. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowed all his previous work.
